The purpose of Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater is to offer professional quality theater to the community of Wellfleet and to preserve and advance the art of live theater. WHAT provides a wonderful, intimate theater experience like nothing else in the region. The theater offers plays, musicals, opera and films in a state-of-the-art facility just a few minutes from our Wellfleet Motel.

History of WHAT
For 30 years WHAT has been a contributing part of the local Cape Cod community. WHAT began in 1985 by Laurie Swift, Gip Hoppe, Vicki Shepard, Kevin Rice, and Dick Morrill, performing at the Catholic Church in Wellfleet. Over the years the group produced several world premieres by playwrights, Michael Klien, Frank Speiser, Gip Hoppe and Kevin Rice. In 2007, WHAT moved into the current 210 seat state-of-the-art theater.
WHAT Lab
WHAT Lab is a development program for new pieces of work for the American theater.The Lab provides a series of group residencies for visiting director, actors, and playwrights, actors and directors, and offered every year between November and April.
